What is a VoiceMeme?
A short answer, and a longer one, for a format built entirely around a couple of seconds of sound.
The short answer
A VoiceMeme is a short spoken clip — usually somewhere between one and thirty seconds — made to be listened to, reacted to and passed along the way a meme is. On VooMe you'll hear jokes, one-liners, reactions to something that just happened, inside jokes between friends, weird noises someone decided the world needed to hear. The format is short by design: long enough to say something, short enough that a stranger will actually press play.
That's the part that makes it a meme rather than just a recording. A meme spreads because it's quick to consume and easy to pass on — a caption, a reaction image, a ten-second clip. VoiceMemes borrow that shape and swap in the one thing text and images can't carry: an actual human voice, with its own timing, tone and accent.
Why voice, specifically
Tone of voice carries information text strips out. The same six words land differently deadpan than they do laughing — and a lot of what makes a joke land, or a reaction feel real, lives in exactly that gap. VoiceMemes keep it. You're not reading a description of how someone said something; you're hearing them say it.
It also lowers the bar to make one. Typing a good joke and getting the phrasing right takes editing. Saying it out loud, in the moment, in your own voice — including the pause and the laugh at the end — takes ten seconds and no self-consciousness about your prose. A lot of VooMes on the site are exactly that: unpolished, in the moment, and better for it.
Where they live
Every VoiceMeme on voome.me was recorded and published inside VoiceApp, a messenger built around voice. That's where creating happens: recording, editing, publishing, liking your favourites. voome.me is the public side of that — a place to discover what people are making, listen without an account, and share a link with anyone, in or out of VoiceApp.
If you hear one you like, the fastest way to find more, or make your own, is to open VoiceApp itself. That's linked from every VooMe page on this site.
